We had another busy week in PreK-4!
Teddy was a super Star Student this past week helping to lead us in our daily routines.
This week we learned all about the letter A,
the number 1, and the circle.
Monday we learned that A is a vowel and can make two different sounds. We practiced the proper formation of the upper and lower case A and completed the pages in our new handwriting books.
On Tuesday we practiced making the number 1 on small whiteboards and a worksheets. We learned how to use a ten frame, and tally marks.
During our Wednesday religion lesson we learned to be thankful to God for our hands. We discussed the many things we can do with our hands.
In the story, "Helping Hands", Kelly used her hands to help with her baby sister, Becky, and helped make the breakfast with her father. She felt very proud of ourself to be able to help her family.
We read through a strip/flip story about the many ways we use our hands. We also used red paint to make our left and right handprints.
Thursday was "apple day", and we completed many apple art projects. We learned the parts of an apple, then created and labeled an apple using a wooden dixie stick and foam pieces. We went to the science lab to perform an apple tasting experiment. The students had so much fun being scientists! Afterwards, we completed our favorite apple graph. The results showed that 7 children liked red, 7 chose green, and 1 voted for yellow apples.
We also used two Scholastic magazines about apples.
Friday we reviewed are weekly lessons and completed an "ants in my pants", art and math project. The students rolled the dice to count the number of ants to glue on the pants. They all thought it was a very funny activity!
We celebrated Dominic's birthday and really enjoyed the special treat and goodie bags!
Everyone is doing so well with saying the Blessing, the Guardian Angel Prayer, our Snack Prayer, and Grace.
The students have been working so hard at school and I am so proud of their accomplishments!
